An automated technic is described for the direct assessment of I131-triiodothyronine binding by serum. The adsorbants used in the manual technics are replaced by dialysis. The radioactivity in the dialysate is measured in a continuous-flow scintillation system. Results obtained from 71 patients of varying thyroid status compare favorably with those of a standard manual I131-triiodothyronine resin uptake test.
