Modifications of the Automated Procedure for Blood Phenylalanine

John B. Hill 1, George K. Summer 1, and Hoyle D. Hill 1

1 Laboratory for Study of Neurometabolic Disorders and the Departments of Pharmacology and Biochemistry, School of Medicine, University of North Carolina, Chapel Mill, N. C.

The automated procedure for blood phenylalanine was modified by the use of glycyl-l-Jeucine and a Corning glass filter No. 7-51. In addition, data were obtained showing that dried blood spots were stable for 11 weeks and samples analyzed at rates of 30 and 60 per hour gave the same results.
