A Manual Fluorometric Paper Disc Method for Detecting Phenylketonuria

A method is described for a spectrophotofluorometric determination of phenylalanine. The amino acid is extracted from a spot of blood which is found to be stable when dried on filter paper. The method is relatively simple and the analysis may be completed on the day the sample is received.
