Quantitative Chromatographic Studies on Urinary Amino Acid Excretion

A New Method of Representation

Richard P. Geer 1, Richard K. Hantman 1, and Cyrus V. Swett 1

1 Chemistry Division, First United States Army Medical Laboratory No. 1, Fort George G. Meade, Md. 20755.

Amino acid excretions of 82 individuals were quantitatively determined by ion-exchange chromatography. The results are expressed as µmoles amino acid per day, divided by milligrams agr-amino acid nitrogen per day. This index is independent of age and provides a more useful method of representation than those presently employed in the literature.
