Identification of Urinary Constituents Isolated by Anion-Exchange Chromatography

C. A. Burtis 1 and K. S. Warren 1

1 Oak Ridge National Laboratory (operated for the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission by Union Carbide Corporation), Oak Ridge, Tenn.

High-pressure, anion exchange chromatography of urine has resolved more than 100 UV-absorbing urinary constituents. Three methods have been used to identify these constituents: (1) chromatographic properties of standards, (2) spectrometric analysis of isolated urinary constituents, and (3) chemical testing of the isolated urinary constituents.
