Modified Semiautomated Method for Serum Thyroxine

Hugh Y. Yee 1, Judy Bowdell 1, and Bobette Jackson 1

1 Department of Pathology, Hutzel Hospital, 432 E. Hancock Ave., Detroit, Mich. 48201 (H. Y. Y. and B. J.), and Oakwood Hospital, 18101 Oakwood, Dearborn, Mich. 48124 (J. B.).

A modified semiautomated technique is described for serum thyroxine. The AutoAnalyzer system used is both sensitive and "noise" free. Two screening steps are presented that minimize possible contamination of the AutoAnalyzer system. Sampling rate is 50/h and 1 ml of serum is required.

Key Words: AutoAnalyzer • thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3)
