A technique based on the standard addition method is described for calibration of the bilirubin channel on the SMA and Mark X analytical systems. Reference sera used for set point calibration contain significant blanks that are compensated in the present technique, which is based on actual bilirubin response of the respective instruments. Precision is improved by use of a least squares technique.
