Herbert K. Naito 1 and Lena A. Lewis 1

1 From the Division of Research, The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio 44106

We describe a rapid, reliable staining procedure for lipoproteins on paper electrophoretograms. Staining time, is 2.5 h in an acetone-water (1:1, by vol) solution of Oil Red O dye (0.4 g/liter). Results agree well with those obtained by the conventional overnight staining technique

Key Words: screening for hyperlipemia • speed lipoprotein measurement • Oil Red O staining
