Anomalous Response of Macroamylase to Assay Temperature

Arthur R. Henderson 1, John King 1, and Clement W. Imrie 1

1 From the University Department of Pathological Biochemistry, Department of Biochemistry and Division of Surgery, Glasgow Royal Infirmary, Glasgow, Scotland, G4 OSF.

An anomalous response to increased reaction temperature is described for two samples of macroamylase, as contrasted with normal serum and pancreatic amylases. A possible method of differentiating macroamylase by assays of activities at 45°C and 25°C is suggested. The ratios of activities found at these two temperatures for a normoamylasemic population are given
