We describe a radioimmunoassay for detection of dexamethasone in plasma. Antibodies to dexamethasone hemisuccinate coupled to bovine serum albumin were obtained in rabbits and used for binding of the synthetic steroid. Concentrations of dexamethasone between 0.5 and 40 µg/liter of plasma can be measured with this procedure.

Key Words: new method for preparing hapten —albumin conjugate • drug assay • monitoring of therapy
