We report a radioimmunoassay procedure for human growth hormone in serum, in which the assay mixture is incubated at 37 °C for a total of 5 h rather than at 4 °C for 48 h. There was no significant difference in results by the two methods, according to the Sign Test and the signed-rank statistical test of Wilcoxin. A comparison of results at the two temperatures demonstrated a Spearmann coefficient of rank correlation value of 0.94. With this facilitation, a laboratory can provide results on the same day that the sample arrives.
