Nicotinic Acid Assay in Blood and Urine

Measurement of nicotinic acid activity of blood, serum, and urine by means of the ciliate Tetrahymena pyriformis is described. Blood and urine have high activity; serum has little. Narrow specificity and high sensitivity recommend the assay for clinical use.
