It has come to my attention that one sentence in Paragraph 4 in the introduction of this document needs clarification.

Please replace this following sentence

Using statistics from the CDC (31) that 3 880 894 infants were born in the US in 1997, we can approximate that 465 infants will be born per year with a metabolic disorder detectable by MS/MS.

with the sentence

Using statistics from the CDC (31) that 3 880 894 infants were born in the US in 1997, we can approximate that 465 infants will be born per year with a metabolic disorder detectable from an acylcarnitine profile by MS/MS.
