Christian P PERIER, clinical chemist Pôle de biologie CHU SAINT ETIENNE FRANCE Send letter to journal: Re: Possible artefactual hyperkalemia christian.perier{at}chu-st-etienne.fr Christian P PERIER	Dear sir, About the paper" Reverse pseudohyperkalemia in a leukemic patient", another explanatory hypothesis could be proposed in order to elucidate the initial reported hyperkalemia ( 10.7 mmol/L and 11.2 mmol/L): after therapy, hyperkalemia could be due to lysed white cells by cytotoxic drugs as a result of delayed separation of plasma from the cells (~ 60 min) in preparation for potassium testing.
